Impossible to make a routine appointment! Essentially you have to call every day to see if one has become available. The only book 4 weeks in advance so if everything is full you cant book for next month.
I have been meaning to say how professional, hard working and helpful the reception staff, Doctors, Karen the practice manager and all the medical staff are. I care for my 89 year old mother and myself have numerous medical issues and suffer from chronic pain I have to say we both receive excellent treatment. One must remember the practice not only receives targarts and polices from the Government but also from the Preston Clinical Commissioning Group. For those who are not aware of the Preston Clinical Commissioning Group, they are part of the NHS and are our local commissioners that plans, organises and buys a range of healthcare services for people that live in Greater Preston which includes Penwortham. So like the recent change in ordering a repeat prescription it was the CCG who where responsible for this not the practice. I would like to say keep up the excellent work. Thanks for all your support over the years. Kath
I am absolutely appalled at my mother's treatment at this practice. She is an 81 year old recently widowed woman who has just been through a hell of a year. First of all losing her husband then having a ruptured bowel and nearly losing her life. On top of which she's been having random blackouts. She has seen a fantastic consultant who implanted a device under her skin which would record the reasons for these blackouts. She is unable to drive and lost her very valued independence. She had a follow up appointment with the consultant today to hopefully be told what exactly it is and to be able to move on from this dreadful limbo she is in. The consultant enquired how she was finding the medication, to which she replied 'what medication' apparently the consultant had emailed Dr Hiles 3 months ago stating mum should be started on urgent medication as she was at risk to a blood clot to her heart. After the consultation my sister went in the the surgery and asked about said email. The receptionist admitted receiving the email (3 momths ago) and that it had been read, according to the receptionist my mum should have a letter telling her to go in for an appointment, she did not receive a letter, nor any other communication considering the fact she lives 100 meters from the practice. Apparently when she turned 80 she received a letter from the practice saying she now had a dedicated doctor. She hasn't heard a dickie bird from anyone. We shall be taking further action on this and will be demanding a meeting between family members, practice manager and Dr Hiles. This isn't the first time they have let my mum down, we would have thought they would have taken more care of her.
